Historical City Maps, Online

London, 1750
This is an amazing resource, the kind of thing that almost restores my faith in the potential of the internet: a digital compendium of historical city maps. The world’s great metropolises are all here — Paris, New York, Constantinople. But dozens of smaller cities are included also. Bergen, Norway. Cusco, Peru. Al-Mukha, Yemen. The originals date from the late fifteenth through the eighteen centuries.
A certain type of person could spend hours browsing the collection. Check it out here.
